The RGO Scientific Library, founded in 1845, is one of the world's richest geographic libraries (ca. 460,000 volumes). Since 1965, the library has been officially a branch of BAN. It includes the personal libraries of a number of important scholars, including V.I. Lamanskii, A.I. Voeikov, A.A. Tillo, and Iu.M. Shokal'skii, among others. In 1948 the extensive cartographic holdings were reorganized as a separate “fond of cartographic materials.” (Library tel. +7 812 315-83-63; webpage: https://www.rgo.ru/ru/biblioteka-0; http://www.rasl.ru/b_resours/set/geos...).
