The first volume of the jubilee exhibition catalogue includes a history of the Academy (pp. 7–45), a catalogue of prerevolutionary exhibits with biographical data about artists (pp. 50–573), and a catalogue of selected documents from the prerevolutionary records of the Academy in TsGIA SSSR (now RGIA, B–3) (pp. 586–96). The second volume similarly covers the Soviet period with a catalogue of the exhibits and data about artists (pp. 6–575), a list of elected Academy members (pp. 576–77), a survey of important documents in the Academy Presidium and Scientific Bibliographic Archive (pp. 583–84), and a bibliography of Academy publications (pp. 585–90).

The first part of the directory provides a short historical survey of Academy activities to 1914 (pp. 1–56), a survey of subsidiary institutions, the privileges, awards, instructions, and rules for members, and data about the collections of the museum and library (pp. 96–108), and biographical data on members of the Academy (pp. 279–332). The second part has biographical data on current artists.
