drawings and drafts—670 units; MS books and manuscripts—ca. 30 units (1860s–1930)

The library (over 850,000 volumes) holds literature on building, architecture, automotive design, and sanitation technology, including rare editions and manuscripts, as well as standard technical documentation.
The fond of original works contains original technical drawings and designs by architects and artists who were lecturers or graduates of the Institute of Civil Engineers. These include graphic folios by A.N. Voronikhin, Carlo Giuseppe (K.I.) Rossi, Auguste Ricard de Montferrand, V.P. Stasov, Ippolito (A.I.) Monigetti, V.A. Shreter, V.A. and G.A. Kosiakov, A.A. Alekseev, and A.I. Shtakenshneider (Stakenschneider), among others.
There are fifteen albums of engravings by the seventeenth-century Italian architect, Giambattista Piranesi, and three albums of engravings (issued in three copies, 1820–1825) containing views of Egyptian monuments prepared during Napoleon’s expedition. There are also lithographed courses of lectures, such as one by N.N. Sultanov on the “History of Ancient Architecture” (1878); lithographed studies, such as those by A.A. Alekseev—“Italian Wrought-Iron Work” and “Wrought and Cast Ornamentation in Old St. Petersburg”; and manuscript reports on assignments abroad.
