In 2012 it was reorganized to the Division of Historical Lexicography. The main holdings in the former Division of Historical Lexicology and Lexicography consist of manuscript card files for the “Dictionary of the Early Rus' Language from the Eleventh through the Seventeenth Century” (Slovar' drevnerusskogo iazyka XI–XVII vv.), established on thesaurus principles. Entries reflect the status of written books and, in part, the spoken language of Kyiv and Northeast Rus'. In different years well-known linguistic scholars have takenpart in the compilation of the card files—A.I. Sobolevskii, M.N. Speranskii, and D.I. Abramovich. The former Division of the History of the Russian Language retains the extensive card files for the “Dictionary of the Early Rus' Language from the Eleventh through the Fourteenth Century” (Slovar' drevnerusskogo iazyka XI–XIV vv.), consisting of carded citations with appellative lexicology, assisting words and homonyms of secular written texts of a given period. Some 700 manuscript texts (11th–14th cc.) were used for the dictionary. There is also a card catalogue with “author cards” with the textual citations for all sources in the dictionary. There are photocopies of manuscript sources cited in the list of sources for the “Dictionary of the Early Rus' Language” and the dictionary card catalogues. Reference facilities: Many of the files are being converted to a computerized database. During the process of compilation, preservation copies of the card files are maintained on microfiche. |
