The library (over 3,000 vols.) includes a part of the holdings from the library of the abolished Lenin Museum in the Marble Palace (other parts of which were transferred to the Russian Museum and the V.V. Maiakovskii Library), among which are a complete collection of secret instructions of organizations exercising control over the press in the USSR (1949–1990). There is also a collection of leaflets, handbills, and of anti-Bolshevik newspapers (1917–1918), and materials of law-enforcement agencies, among others.
