Total: 1,970 units; 1955–1989 (some documents 1920s–1940s)

The sector holds a collection of archival materials about the history of BAN and its component divisions, which includes memoirs of scholars and librarians, letters, photographs, and other documents.
        The Scientific Archive holds the administrative records of BAN (1955–1989) that are designated for permanent and long-term preservation. These include plans, reports, protocols (minutes) of meetings of the directors, the Learned Council, and councils of different divisions; organizational-administrative documents, scientific-methodological materials from library divisions, documentation on international relations and book exchange, and materials on conferences and symposia; financial, budgetary, and accounting records; and personnel files.

Working conditions:
There is no formal reading room. Files in the Scientific Archive which have not been processed are not open to researchers.

Reference facilities:
The museum and exhibit holdings have been described and registered according to museum rules. Files in the Scientific Archive are currently being processed, and reference facilities are being compiled.

Copy facilities:
Microfilm, xerographic, and photographic copies can be ordered.
