Access
For access to the archival materials an official letter of application should be addressed to the chief of the museum, which must be endorsed with his authorization.

Working conditions
Advance orders are necessary through the reading room (not more than 10 units in one order) for the Scientific Archive. In other divisions researchers are accommodated in the working offices, where materials are available the day they are ordered.

Copy facilities
Photographs and xerox copies can be prepared, although documents from the Scientific Archive may not be reproduced. Use of copies of documents for research, publishing, and exhibition purposes is subject to appropriate charges fixed in agreement with the administration.

Library facilities
The museum library (over 100,000 vols. from 16th c. to present), which holds books on the history of military science, was founded in 1876. It includes books from the libraries of the Russian Historical Society, the Main Artillery Administration, the Michael Artillery Academy (Mikhailovskaia artilleriiskaia akademiia), and various prerevolutionary Russian military units.
