By bus:

From Central Station:
. bus 48 runs six times an hour : bus stop C. van Eesterenlaan.
From Station Muiderpoort:
. bus 22 runs eight times an hour : bus stop Zeeburgerdijk
From Station Zuid, via Amstel Station:
. bus 65 runs four times an hour : bus stop Cruquiusweg.

By tram:

From Leidseplein:
. tram 7 to Molukkenstraat (10 minutes walking distance)
. tram 10 to C. van Eesterenlaan (5 to 10 minutes walking distance)
From Dam square:
. tram 14 to Javaplein (5 to 10 minutes walking distance)

By train:

From Amsterdam Central Station: bus 48, see above.
From Muiderpoort Station. From here you can walk (15 minutes walking distance; head east on Insulindeweg and go left on the large crossing with traffic lights. You are now on Molukkenstraat/Veelaan which leads directly to the IISH) or bus 22 to Zeeburgerdijk.
From Station Zuid, via Amstel Station; bus 65, see above.

By car:

Take the circular road (A10) and drive to the northern part of it. Take the junction Zeeburg (S114), proceed to the traffic lights, and follow the signs Zeeburg into the tunnel (Piet Hein-tunnel). At the end of the tunnel go left at traffic lights. Take second road to your left (Cruquiusweg). Proceed to the end of the road, where is takes a right turn. The IISH is the large grey building on your left. However, there is only paid parking space near the IISH!

Tuesday till Friday: 9:00 - 17:00
No requests for documents, books and serials will be handled after 4 p.m.

The Institute and/or the reading room will be closed (2012):
