History

Founded in Giessen, Germany 1973 at the inititiative of Erich Wulff; had its seat in Frankfurt am Main; the ASK operated as a platform against racism and neocolonialism, joined by individuals and organizations, including the Verband Deutscher Studentenschaften (VDS), the Jungdemokraten (JD), the Sozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterjugend (SDAJ), Spartakus and the Deutsche Kommunistische Partei (DKP); denounced the role of multinational corporations in Third World countries; aimed to inform the public about the struggle of national liberation movements and to assist these by lending moral and financial support; focused on Chili, the liberation movements in El Salvador and Nicaragua and on South-Africa; joined the Afro-Asian Peoples' Solidarity Organization (AAPSO) in Caïro; as a result of the `Wende' in the German Democratic Republic in 1989 the ASK fell into a financial and ideological crisis resulting in its dissolution in 1990.

Conference papers, circular letters, leaflets, reports, press releases, copies of Antiimperalistisches Informationsbulletin and documents relating to discussions on principles, the seat and the dissolution of the ASK; correspondence with organizations in Germany, including the Deutsche Welthungerhilfe (DW), `Grünen', Jungsozialisten (JS), Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands (SPD), SDAJ, and the Zentrale Dokumentationsstelle der Freien Wohlfahrtspflege für Flüchtlinge; correspondence with foreign organizations, including the Comisión de Derechos Humanos de Guatemala, Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), International Committee against Apartheid, Juicio de Nuremberg contra los crimenes de la junta militar en Chile, Secours Populaire Libanais (SPL), South African People's Organization (SAPO) and the Zimbabwe African People's Organization (ZAPO); stencilled reports, leaflets and other printed material relating to separate countries, conferences or events and a series of press clippings on separate countries; documents relating to the AAPSO consisting of minutes of meetings of its presidium and of international conferences; statements by the AAPSO and bulletins of its secretariat, press releases and circular letters 1975-1988.
