Biography
Born in Stockholm, Sweden 1938, died in Lockerbie, Scotland 1988; joined the social democratic youth league at the age of sixteen; studied economics at the university of Stockholm; assistant to the Minister of Commerce in 1967; International Secretary of the Social Democratic Party of Sweden in 1970; secretary-general of the Socialist International (SI) from 1976-1983; Commissioner for Namibia of the United Nations (UN); killed in the airplane crash near Lockerbie, on his way to New York for the ceremony marking the Namibia peace .
