History

Founded in 1922 as Socialist Educational International, with socialist children's organizations in various countries as its affiliates; practically ceased to exist in 1934 because of the suppression of the socialist children's movement in Germany and other countries; in 1947 the organization was re-established as the International Falcon Movement; its aims were mutual international understanding, social responsibility and education in democratic values; organized international camps and conferences for youth leaders; in 1970, after a change of constitution, Socialist Educational International was again added to the name and the IFM-SEI was more explicitly defined as a social-democratic organization.
