History
Founded in Paris in 1954 as International Federation of Petroleum Workers (IFPW); associated with the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU); its affiliates consisted of free trade unions of workers, engaged in the production, transport, refining, processing and marketing of petroleum and natural gas; had its headquarters in Denver, USA; in 1963 its name was changed into International Federation of Petroleum and Chemical Workers (IFPCW); in the 1970s a merger with the International Federation of Chemical and General Workers' Unions (ICF) did not came about after which the IFPCW ceased to exist.
