History
IFIAS Brussels was founded by Gerd Greune 1997; main interests of IFIAS are human rights, freedom of media, anti-militarisation and conflict resolution; IFIAS is closely related to Internews Network, an international non-profit organization that supports open media worldwide, to the Vienna Platform ('Building Partnership for Enlargement'), started in 1998, when more than thirty NGOs from Central and Eastern Europe met with their counterparts from the EU to discuss new ways of working together, to the Glasnost Foundation in Brussels and to the European Bureau for Conscientious Objection.
