Biography

Born in Borgo San Donnio, Italy 1879, died in Carrara, Italy 1958; anarchist, trade unionist, antimilitarist; wrote political articles from 1899 in Pro Coatti, the union magazine L'Edilizia and the antimilitarist La Pace; emigrated to Argentina in 1907, wrote for several anarchist papers, and organized the local trade union; expelled in 1909; returned to Italy, contributed to Il Libertario; secretary of the Carrara Trade Union Council; elected into the Central Committee of the Unione Sindicale Italiana (USI); leader of the Carrara Trade Union Council, 1919-1922 and 1945-1947; in 1922 fled after the fascist take-over to Paris, member of the P. Gori group, founded the magazine Il Momento; formed `Garibaldi legions'; secretary of Ricciotti Garibaldi (without knowing that Garibaldi was paid by the fascists); fought in the Spanish Civil War; published his own journal Il Cavatore.
