History
Network for Democracy and Development (NDD), a political organization formed by Naing Aung and his followers, former members of the All Burma Students Democratic Front (ABSDF) March 2001; in its charter statement, the NDD singles out 'the current generation of political activists' as a 'third force' in Burmese politics, standing apart from the National League of Democracy (NLD) and the State Peace and Development Council (SPDC); based in Thailand near the Burmese border the NDD wants to play 'a central role in developing democracy in Burma'.

Arrangement
Because the archives consist of documents in Burmese and because many files are confidential, the IISH decided not to change the order and the descriptions in this list. Photographs and negatives were transferred to the audiovisual section of the IISH and some books were transferred to the library; in 2006 a cd with additional e-mail correspondence was received.
