History
Operation Omega was established by volunteers in 1971 as reaction on the invasion by the Pakistani army of East Bengal whose governement then declared itself the Republic of Bangladesh; Operation Omega was supported by War Resisters'International, Community Research & Action Group and Action Bangladesh; the aim was to take food and medical supplies into Bangladesh and distribute it there; two groups went to the border of East Bengal; one group was arrested by the Pakistani army; the other group got through with its relief supplies; some of the volunteers stayed within the country until 1973.
