INTRODUCTION
The following documents stem from
a Dutch support group of '
Radio Farabundo Marti (RFM)
del
Farabundo Marti Liberacion Nacional (FMLN)
', a Salvadorian
radiostation of the guerilla movement
Frente Democratico
Revolucionario (FDR)
. The FDR waged a civil war against the
government of
El Salvador
, at that time led by president
Napoleon Duarte
. During that war the FDR made use of two
radiostations, '
Radio Venceremos
' and RFM. The latter
existed from
1982
onwards.
In
the Netherlands, and in other countries too, support groups were set up who
sympathised with the FDR. The Dutch group was seated in
Den
Bosch
and was called '
Steungroep Radio Farabundo
Marti
'. Their main goal was to collect, to translate and to spread
information on the situation in
El Salvador
and the
activities of the FDR.
The collection contains newsletters, bulletins and
presscommuniqués of RFM, partly translated by members of the Steungroep, and
socalled 'computer news' transmitted by
GeoNet
(prints in
Spanish).
