In Italy a number of revolutionary communist, anarchist and other groups of the extreme left originated at the end of the 1960s and in the 1970s; remaining rather small, their political significance decreased in the 1980s.

Collection of Schirone consisting of leaflets and bulletins of various groups of the Italian extreme left, including the Soccorso Rosso, the Organizzazione Comunista Libertaria (OCL), the Nuclei Leninisti Internazionalisti, the Collettivo Comunista Feltrinelli, the Federazione Anarchica Italiana (FAI) and local organizations including the Federazione Anarchica Genovese, the Comitato Proletario Territoriale Veneto, the Gruppo Ostiense (FAI), the Gruppo Errico Malatesta, the Antinucleari e antimilitaristi anarchici del Triveneto and the Comitato 7 Aprile di Rovigo; copies of bulletins including Bollettino dei Lavoratori Citroën, Collegamenti per l'organizzazione diretta di classe, Controvento, Lavorare Contro, Lotta Comunista, Nuvola, Prendiamoci la Città, Quaderni del Soccorso Rosso and Il Rosso.
