Biography
Born in 1920, died in Amsterdam on 2 March 2000; Chilean philosopher and historian; published on the history of the labour movement in Chile and Latin America; fled with his family to the Netherlands and settled in Amsterdam in 1975; staff member of the IISH 1976-1985.

Collection consisting of some unpublished manuscripts by Segall Rosenmann, including `Memorias de un Santaguino' 1978 and `El romanticismo social en Latino-america en Acción' 1978; bulletins, photocopies of articles, leaflets and pamphlets concerning Chilean political activists, including Arturo Alessandri, Andrès Bello, Clotario Blest and José Santos Salas, political parties, the labour movement, the student movement, agrarian reform, freemasonry and other subjects 1850, 1859, 1886, 1890-1891, 1894, 1901-1974; copies of periodicals and press clippings relating to social and political issues in Chile and many other countries 1921-1989; proclamations and other documents on landownership, mining, trade and other subjects of the economic history of Chile 1811-1921; pamphlets and other documents on cooperations, political parties and trade unions 1912-1968; typescripts on and other documents relating to the French political exile Narcisse Anatole Edmond Desmadryl, who fled to Chile and was a friend of the Chilean philosopher Jenaro Abasolo, the engraver Narcisse Edmond Joseph Desmadryl 1844-1964 and n.d.; typescripts on Joseph Conrad, Herbert Marcuse, the introduction of socialism in Latin America, in Chile, and on civilization theories 1958-1980; typescript of the memories of Julio E. Valiente 1960; correspondence of J. Rafael Carranza 1934-1935.
