Biography

Born in Ratibor, Germany 1892, died in Munich 1984; anarchist, publicist; moved to Sweden to escape conscription in 1915; expelled from Sweden because of his antimilitarist propaganda in 1917; returned to Germany in 1919; active with Rudolf Rocker in the Freie Arbeiter-Union Deutschlands (FAUD), editor of its organ Der Syndikalist 1922-1933; participated in the Second Congress of the COMINTERN in 1920, representing informally the FAUD; one of the three secretaries of the International Working Men's Association (IWMA); travelled for the IWMA in South America and Spain; lived in exile in France from 1933; active in the Confederación Nacional del Trabajo (CNT), travelling all over Europe; after the Spanish Civil War interned in France; escaped to Mexico in 1942; returned to Germany in 1961; worked as teacher and organization expert in Madagascar for the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU) 1962 and in Latin America and Ethiopia for the International Labour Organisation (ILO) 1963-1966; travelled as a journalist all over the world; after his retirement freelance publicist in Munich.
