Biography

Also known as Zhook; true name: Vasilij Pavlovič Maslov-Stokoz; Russian revolutionary; adherent of Narodnaja Volja; his father was Ukrainian, his mother Polish; studied in Russia; for some time he had a job in Bulgaria; since the nineties he lived in emigration in Great Britain ('Dejateli Revoljucionnogo dviženija v Rossii', t. 3 (1933)); had contacts with anarchists; publicist and translator, using the pseudonyms V.P. Baturinskij and V.P. Baranov; published on Russian literature (notably: 'A.I. Gercen, ego druz'ja i znakomye'), and on Ukrainian and Serbian literature and folklore; he also translated work of P. Kropotkin; he was married to Dora (Doris) Wess.

Drahomanov and his circle 1876-1877; manuscripts by Vasilij Žuk; manuscripts by others, notably `Modern Science and Anarchism' by Peter Kropotkin; printed material, including press clippings on Emma Goldman.
