The periodical La Banquise. Revue de critique sociale (Paris) was set up and published by a changing group of contributors including Jean Barrot (pseudonym of Gilles Dauvé) and Serge Quadruppani; members of the group were to be found on the ultra-left political spectrum: communist, libertarian and post-situationist; four issues of La Banquise appeared between 1983-1986; Le Brise-Glace (Paris) was started in 1988 as its successor at a moment when there were some signs of revolutionary activity in France; after four issues, it stopped appearing in 1990.
