Biography
True name: Boris Naumovič Gurevič, pseudonym: Ber; born in Russia 1889, died in Moscow 1938; social democrat and Menshevik, living in Paris until 1917; after the February Revolution leader of the main committee of the Rossijskaja Social-Demokratičeskaja Rabočaja Partija (RSDRP) for the Ukraine and a leader of the left wing of the party; his (second) wife was Lidija (Lalja) E. Abramovič, also a Menshevik; both were arrested in the early twenties and lived through long years of persecution; Ber died during interrogation by the GPU.
