Biography

Born in (Akçadağ) Malatya, Turkey 1938; emigrated to Belgium in 1964; learned French while working as a coal miner in Charleroi; studied in the same time at a school for miners; in 1971 he has been elected as union representative; in 1972 member of the National Assemble of the Confederation des Syndicats Chrétiens (CSC) and eventually in 1974 the head of the Turkish Department of the same union; from 1975-1979 he studied social work and graduated on The Housing Question of Migrants in Belgium; between 1979-1994 representative of the CSC in the council of migrants of the Department of Culture; chairman of the Centre Turc d'Information, Animation Culturelle et d'Aide Sociale (Turk-Danis) in Belgium; retired in 1994.

Arrangement

The original arrangement of the papers has been retained; periodicals and books have been transferred to the library of the IISH; photographs and posters have been stored in the audiovisual department of the IISH.
