Founded in 1947 during a conference of the Independent Labour Party (ILP) in London; independent movement of socialists from Belgium, France, Great Britain and Italy in favour of European unity; succeeded in 1959 by the Mouvement Gauche Européenne (MGE); had its seat in Paris; published Gauche Européenne; dissolved in 1974.
