IISH

Borrowing of Printed Publications

Interlibrary loans | Exhibitions

In general, all items of the library should be available at all times to each visitor of the reading room. This means we do not lend out any publications.

Interlibrary loans

Requests for interlibrary loans (books and serials) from abroad, will only be handled through WorldCat Resource Sharing (SHARES partners only). We prefer to send (electronic) copies (up to 50 copies).

Exhibitions

It is possible to borrow items for exhibitions provided they are exhibited in environmental conditions standard for museums.
For archival documents, books, pamphlets, and various kinds of visual materials there is a fee for borrowing.
The borrower must sign a borrowing agreement and arrange and pay for insurance from start to finish, against the lender's valuation.
The cost of collection and return of the objects will be borne by the borrower.
Requests for loans should be made at least six weeks in advance.
Conditions for exhibiting

Posters

Posters for exhibitions will be framed by the IISH between 2-3 mm plexiglass, backed with acid-free board and sealed with bright tape, see image 1.

The borrower may exhibit the poster in an interchangeable frame, between nails, or in any other way, provided the original object and its IISH-made wrap are not damaged.

Drilled holes in plexiglass and board may be applied beforehand on demand, see image 2.

The cost of framing, sending et cetera will be borne by the borrower.
