KAR: Organ-e markezi Sazman-e Charikha-ye Feda'i-ye Khalq-e Iran

Central Organ of the Organization of the Iranian People's Feda'i Guerrilla (OIPFG)

The first issue of the Kar as the Central Organ of Sazman-e Charikha-ye Feda'i-ye Khalq-e Iran (Organization of the Iranian People's Feda'i Guerrilla - OIPFG) was published in 1978 as a weekly periodical in Tehran.

The OIPFG was formed in the 1960s by the clandestine Marxist-Leninist circles of Iran. They adopted an armed resistance and confrontation with the existing regime of Iran.
Sazman-e Charikha-ye Feda'i-ye Khalq-e Iran made its existence known by an armed incursion at the Siahkal Gendarmerie post in 1970. Most of the leadership of the organization were killed or executed either during armed confrontations or after persecutions, and a number of them were imprisoned.
After the Islamic Revolution of 1979 the Sazman-e Charikha-ye Feda'i-ye Khalq-e Iran changed its status and begun its activities as a non-clandestine organization. However, after some time it faced internal crises and splits. Finally following the OIPFG's polonium of 1980 the organization was divided into two different organizations, the Aksaryat (Majority) and Aqaliat (Minority). However, each of them kept the name of their OIPFG with the a suffix of Aksaryat and Aqaliat and retained Kar as their vcebtrak organ.

The IISH holding collection of Kar was donated by Mr. Behzad Karimi. Mr. Behazad Karimi was born in 1947 in the city of Tabriz, Iran, and is graduated from Tabriz University. He started his political activities in the 1966. Because of his membership of the Sazman-e Charikha-ye Feda'i-ye Khalq-e Iran he has been several times jailed, tortured and was ousted from the University. In the year 1984 he became member of the board of leadership of Sazman-e Charikha-ye Feda'i-ye Khalq-e Iran (Minority). For some time he worked as the Editor-in-chief of Kar, and the spokesperson of the Central Council of the Majority.
