Slovenians in the Netherlands
Holiday
Holiday
Transportation 1953-1955. The man in the foreground (holding a cigarette) is the organiser, Frans Gril.
It was not until 1953 that Slovenians were able to visit their homeland for the first time since the Second World War. The first transportation of migrants was organised by Edinost, a communist group which monopolised exchanges with the homeland. From 1955, when travel to and from the homeland became easier, Catholic Slovenians, too, began to organise holiday visits.
