Chen Yiming 陈宜明


Chen Yiming (1950) is from Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. As part of the rustification program designed for Red Guards during the Cultural Revolution, he was sent to a military production brigade in Heilongjiang Province in 1968. In 1970, he started making art in his spare time, and six years later, he was transferred to the Heilongjiang Art Institute. In the period 1982-1985, he took refresher courses at the Oil Painting Department of the Central Art Academy and the Oil Painting Department of the Zhejiang Art Academy.

Chen, who currently resides in Japan, has been awarded prizes for his oil paintings, but also for cartoon books he drew.
