Liu Zhigui 刘知贵


Liu Zhigui (1945) was born in Huxian, Shaanxi Province. In 1962, he joined the Huxian Peasant Painting Group and started painting in his spare time. He became art teacher in the Jiaqiang school in 1967. Two years later, he was sent to work as an art editor with the Shaanxi ribao [陕西日报,Shaanxi Daily]. From 1976-1984, he was vice-director of the Huxian cultural centre. He now works in the Huxian Paisant Painting Exhibition Hall.

Liu specializes in New Year pictures and peasant paintings.
