Ma Lequn 马乐群

Ma Lequn (1933) was born in Shanghai. He belongs to the Hui minority. In the early 1950s, he studied fine arts at the Shanghai chapter of the Communist Youth League, and by the middle of the decade, he studied the 'calendar New Year pictures'-style with such renowned artists as Li Mubai and Jin Meisheng. He now works as an editor in the New Year pictures section of the Shanghai People's Fine Arts Publishing House.

The poster above left was designed with Pang Ka, and the one on the right was made in collaboration with Jin Ming. Ma specializes in New Year pictures.
