Wang Meifang 王美芳

Wang Meifang (1949) was born in Beijing. After she graduated from the middle school attached to the Central Art Academy in 1969, she was among those young urbanites who were sent "up to the mountains and down to the villages" (上山下乡,shangshan xiaxiang). She spent ten years in a military rural reclamation unit, where she was engaged in animal husbandry and continued designing in her spare time. In 1979, she was transferred to the Tianjin Industrial Art Design College.

Song of Friendship, 1979

Ms. Wang specializes in figurative painting. A number of her works has been included in national collections. She often collaborates with Zhao Guojing, as on the work above.
