Dockers from Antwerp, Belgium, stop work during the month of September 1907 to get one more frank pay (of five Bfr.) Strike breakers from England cause a lot of fighting in the streets and the army is mobilized. The Mayor Hertogs proposes a compromise of 5,50 franks. This is agreed upon, but in the end it is not implemented. The strike is a success for the Belgian union of transport workers which now is no longer a `quantité negligeable'.
