In 1993 a message from the PeaceNet Balkans Desk was posted in the newsgroup yugo.antiwar. It said: "Monday, April 5, marks the first anniversary of the siege of Sarajevo and the start of war in Bosnia-Herzegovina. What can you do? Join the national day of fasting [...] to remember those who died in Europe's worst wave of war crimes since World War II [...] Give the money you would have spent [...] to one of the many organizations that help the people of Bosnia."
