First Man in Space


Telegram of the Dutch Communists, 1961

On 12 April 1961 the Soviet Union was the first to send a man into space: Yuri Gagarin. Congratulations from all parts of the world reached the Soviet Union. A telegram from the Dutch communist party to the CPSU is presented here.
"We congratulate you on the first flight of mankind into space - we consider this a victory for communism and Marxist-Leninism - greetings to comrade Gagarin and all soviet workers, technicians, and scientists who, under the leadership of the communist party, achieved this success."
