Although his cabinet was sorely troubled, the Dutch prime minister Van Agt left on a business trip to Thailand in March 1982. During a stopover in Abu Dhabi, a miracle took place: the first rainfall in thirty years. Van Agt gave a portrait of himself as a present to Abu Dhabi's deputy prime minister sheik Hamdan.
