Only 16,4% of the East-Germans Vote for the SED

After the fall of the Berlin Wall, citizens of the German Democratic Republic were also able to vote for West German parties. At the elections of March 18 the Christian Democratic CDU and DA gain 41.7 % of the votes. The PDS, the former SED, attains only 16.4 %. The results of the elections mean support for the re-unification of Germany, which occurred at the end of the year.
