Gypsies Lose Their Advocate

When Lau Mazirel died on 20 November 1974, the small gypsy population in the Netherlands lost its main advocate. The foundation Lau Mazirel as well as the Lau Mazirel Society deposited their archives at the IISH. It also included a special collection of three hundred children's books from 1825 to 1990 featuring gypsies and tinkers.
