Following the end of the International Socialist Meeting in Amsterdam on 22 August, the delegates take to the floor. The flamboyant, giant Dutch delegate Henri van Kol starts dancing, encouraged and cheered by Karl Kautsky (at the right), Pieter Jelles Troelstra (left upper corner), and Klara Zetkin (left). Van Kol (1852-1925) performs a Javanese dance that he learned during his stay as an hydraulic engineer in the Dutch East Indies.
