Reverend Martin Luther King's struggle for equal rights for black Americans accelerated in 1963. He became world famous with his speech on 28 August 1963 in Washington DC. At the Lincoln Memorial he spoke to a crowd of 250,000 civil rights protesters of his dream for a society without racial discrimination. In 1964 he also received the Nobel Peace Prize. That same year he visited the Netherlands.
