Around 1900 the Bulgarian Social Democrats are only a marginal group, with no more than a few hundred members. In 1903, following the discussion on revisionism, the SDAPB splits in two, a more flexible faction and a more rigid one. The two new parties both claim to be the SDAPB, but in practice they are known as the "Broads" and the "Narrows". The Narrows become even more restricted in 1905. The workers' feel they are dominated by the intellectuals, and form the 'Social Democratic Workers Union: The Proletarian". "The Proletarian" alienates one fifth of the Narrow SDAPB's adherents and later on joins the Broads. Rabotniceskij Vestnik is the Narrows' newspaper.
