Nazim Hikmet, 1955

In 1955 Nazim Hikmet, the Turkish communist and poet, stayed in Budapest at the invitation of the Turkish Service of Radio Budapest. He started a series of radio broadcasts on political and literary themes. The broadcasts feature some of his best known poems. On 30 August 1955 Hikmet reads a passage from his epic about the war of liberation to mark the Turkish victory. The IISH has eight audio tapes from these Radio Budapest broadcasts.
