The Dutch Labour Youth Learns to Dance

The Dutch AJC was founded in 1918 to educate labour youth both physically and mentally. In the first few years, however, it was not always clear how to achieve this. The Dutch eagerly watched their parallel German organization, the SAJ. The meeting of the Labour Youth International in 1921 in Bielefeld was a good opportunity to learn some things. The Dutch delegation was initiated in folk dancing, the singing of labour songs, and group gymnastics. In the twenties and thirties this became an important element in the AJC's youth work.
