Greenpeace Photo Archive

Antarctica expedition 1990

Staff member takes a bath

The image of sturdy men in inflatable boats on the high seas, struggling to protect the environment, is characteristic of Greenpeace.
The photo archive shows the other side of its work as well: the painstaking collecting of evidence preceding every action, its less than spectacular work in the laboratory, its ordinary rather commonplace demonstrations in the streets, the extreme conditions under which Greenpeace activists work - even the very struggle for existence.

The Greenpeace Photo Archive holds prints of thousands black-and white press photo's, from the group's beginnings up to 1995. The collection is not yet available for research. Greenpeace retains copyright.
